Obituary for Lois Jean Shipley (Brunswick)
Lois Jean Shipley (Brunswick), 89, formerly of New Castle passed away the evening of April 11, 2023 at the Grove in New Wilmington where she resided.
Born in New Castle on August 17, 1933, Lois was the daughter of the late Earl and Ila May Crawford Shipley.
In the early years Lois had worked at the YMCA. She also volunteered at St. Francis Hospice for several years.
In her younger years Lois loved to ice skate. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Bengals fan. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Lois’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Lois is survived by her children, Brian Brunswick (Lisa), Cindy DeSalvo (Terry), Candy Schlumberger (Bob), Richard Brunswick, daughter in law, Maryann DeSalvo, son in law, James Malizia, her brother, Matthew Shoaff, two sisters, Judy Kadunce (John) and Lana Stevens and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donald L. Brunswick, Sr., Lois was preceded in death by her two sons, Donald L. Brunswick, Jr. and William Brunswick, three daughters, Shirley Newton, Laurie Lyerson and Georgianne Malizia, two brothers, Dale Johnston and Gene Johnston, and two sisters, Bonnie Myers and Patty Heaney.
Honoring her wishes the service is private. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
