Obituary for Eleanor J. Genareo (Ontko)

Eleanor Genareo, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Golden Hill Nursing Home/Quality Life Services. Eleanor formerly lived on Lynn Street, in New Castle for fifty-five years.

Eleanor was born February 5, 1927 in Campbell, Ohio to the late John and Elizabeth Sabados Ontko.
She was a graduate of Campbell High School.

Her husband, Ralph Genareo, whom she married June 1, 1957, passed away in March of 1999.

Eleanor was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. Her two sons, Randy and Kevin, were her pride and joy. She was a spectacular cook and baker. Eleanor loved getting her kids together for family dinners, especially at the holidays. She was known for her fancy cookies and baked for all of the family weddings. Her cookie tables were the best!!

Eleanor really enjoyed the many visits over the years with her nephew, Ronald Genareo, and the weekly visits with her friends Chuck and Marilynn Johnston.

The family would like to thank the Aids, Nurses, and Staff at Golden Hill Nursing/Quality Life Services for the wonderful care and friendship they provided to Eleanor over the last seven years. A special thanks to Mary Kay for the love and compassion she showed to Eleanor over the years.

Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Randy Genareo and his wife Doris, Kevin Genareo and his wife Sherry, and her granddaughter RaeLynn Genareo.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mary Tablack, Anna Jay, and Betty Clements; and two brothers, Joseph Ontko and John Ontko.
