Obituary for Dr. James R. Krueger

Dr. James Krueger, 92, of Neshannock Township, died the afternoon of Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in Jameson Hospital.

He was born October 2, 1930 in New Castle, the son of the late Louis and Helen Hromyak Krueger.

Jim attended Union High School, Geneva College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1955.

He married the love of his life, the former Annette Lombardi on June 19, 1954. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2020.

Jim served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957, stationed in Texas and New Jersey. He practiced Dentistry in New Castle from 1957 to 1993, and continued checking children’s teeth at Laurel School even after retirement.

Jim lived an active and fulfilling life. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, and season tickets to Pitt football games. Jim especially loved spending time with family and friends, bird watching, crossword puzzles, reading, dad/uncle jokes and bad puns. He was adept at making holidays magical and a wonderful organizer of activities, including events for the Castle Paws and Taws Dance Club. Jim was a longtime member of St. Camillus and Holy Spirit Parish.

Survivors include two children, Bradley Krueger of New Castle, Lisa Close and her husband, Richard, of New Jersey, granddaughter Elise of Massachusetts, four sisters-in-law, Eleanor Krueger of New Castle, Irene Thames of Syracuse, N.Y., Jane DeNunzio of Richmond, V.A., Dr. Lorraine Lombardi of Philadelphia, P.A., five nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Annette, his brother Louis Krueger Jr., nephew Paul Krueger, and brother-in-law Victor G. DeNunzio.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by a Blessing Service at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Father Joseph McCaffrey of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate.

Entombment will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
