Obituary for David R. Chiafullo
David R. Chiafullo, 67, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of December 23, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio.
David was born in New Castle on June 30, 1955 to the late Joseph H. and Florence Zarella Chiafullo.
David is survived by the love of his life, his wife of twenty-six years, the former JoAnn Cozza, who he married on November 23, 1996.
He had retired after thirty-six years as a Conductor and Yardmaster for Norfolk-Southern Railroad.
David attended Mass daily as a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.
David was an avid runner. He was also an active member of the New Castle YMCA where he enjoyed spending time exercising. David was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and all around sports enthusiast. A loving husband and wonderful uncle, lovingly known as Uncle “D”, David’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his brother, James D. Chiafullo (Lynn) of Pittsburgh, two sisters, Marilynn S. Chiafullo and partner Susan Tigner of Naples, FL and Maureen K. Chiafullo-Haide and husband Lee of New Castle, Mother-in-law, Patricia Cozza, sister-in-law, Toni Cozza, brother-in-law, Daryl Cozza and wife, Melissa, three nephews, one niece and four great-nephews and his beloved goddaughter, Ava.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Carole A. Chiafullo and brother Joseph R. Chiafullo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Joseph McCaffrey, Pastor will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Mephis, TN 38105.
